Once omnipresent fixtures peppered throughout city streets, bodegas are becoming increasingly endangered as global chains expand their footprint and online delivery options offering sterile convenience extend their reach. Those that remain face threats of eviction from impossibly high rents, changing demographics from hyper-gentrification, and lack of government action in supporting small businesses.
