Noble Signs &
NY Sign Museum
Noble Signs is a design and fabrication studio in East New York, Brooklyn that specializes in custom analog signage.

The shop is also home to The New York Sign Museum, a non-profit museum dedicated to collecting, preserving, and showcasing signs that once adorned the city's streets.

Walking through the museum is like stepping into old New York. Businesses from bygone eras—long replaced by banks, chain stores, and now-zombie pharmacies—line the walls and hang from the ceilings.

The collection tells the story of a trifecta of issues affecting New York today: retail vacancies (which have doubled since 2019), shifting neighborhood demographics, and the delicate balancing act of preserving the city's historic character while meeting modern needs.

The team behind Noble and the NYSM are simultaneously celebrating New York’s past while actively shaping its future look and feel. By incorporating elements from rescued signs into their designs, they blend old and new, preserving the city’s visual legacy with its modern identity.
